"The Lohit word in the Lohit Youth Library Network name does not represent only the present Lohit district, it represents the entire region of erstwhile undivided Lohit Valley"
- De-institutionalised Library movement
- Instead, make it a Reading Room & Learning & Discussion Centre
- Each library is managed by volunteers themselves and the readers.
- Library activities in each unit: Storytelling, poetry recitation, book loud reading, book talks, discussions on social issues and book quiz sessions. These aims to promote the joy of Reading.
- Visits & Public talks & interaction sessions wth visitors from several places. These have been found very useful by readers.
- Periodic mini book exhibitions cum sales of books for youth from reputed publishers conducted in different towns & villages, right up to the last China border village in upper Lohit Valley.
- Extension Service is the Core of the Movement: The reader- volunteers in their spare time & even on working days, work to spread the joy of reading among those who are not yet visitors to the library.
- In effect, the Library goes out to the readers in schools near, as well as far.
